Company History

LYNX Medical Systems was founded in 1984 by a visionary emergency medicine physician who sought better solutions for managing clinical information in the hospital emergency department (ED). Initially, LYNX focused on professional CPT and ICD-9 coding services, outpatient facility charge assignment services and various auditing and educational programs. LYNX has consistently offered quality coding services to hospitals and physician practices, and has emerged as one of the leading providers of coding services to the healthcare market.

In 1991, LYNX released a series of proprietary software systems designed to assist hospitals with coding and associated auditing of ED encounter information. The company’s offerings evolved to include patient tracking and clinical information systems for the ED.

Today, LYNX is a technology-enabled services company providing comprehensive health information management products and services to more than 600 healthcare organizations, representing more than 21.5 million annual patient encounters. LYNX solutions help healthcare providers manage clinical information to improve revenue and reduce risk.

In 2007, LYNX was acquired by Picis, Inc., a global provider of innovative information solutions that enable rapid and sustained delivery of clinical, financial and operational results in the acute care areas of the hospital. LYNX employs approximately 200 professionals nationwide, is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington and maintains a regional office in Tampa, Florida.
