Compliance and Consistency Concerns
E/Point appropriately values services in the emergency department
Tighter reimbursement regulations have been an ongoing cause of concern for hospital administrators who lack a compliant and consistent charging strategy across all outpatient operations. The threat of audits from Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC), Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and commercial payers is quite real and seems to be ever present in today’s healthcare environment. Without a defined methodology, all charging activities are subjective. There is no traceability or ability to explain how certain charges were calculated, and consistency is practically non-existent.. The solution is to implement a complaint and consistent charging toolthat has a proven success record with payer audits and inspections.
LYNX E/Point® is a software application that promotes compliant and consistent facility and professional charging for care provided in the emergency department. ICD-9 coding provides the ability to capture patient diagnosis and promotes chart thoroughness for the patient’s encounter. E/Point calculates facility visit level with the LYNX ED visit level algorithm which is compliant with the 11 OPPS guidelines.
E/Point features an easy-to-use interface that requires minimal user interaction and prompts the user to document all of the care provided to the patient in order to support appropriate and defensible reimbursement. The system also supports charge capture and revenue allocation for patients who are transitioned to an observation status. Performance monitoring is included in all E/Point implementations to facilitate compliant and consistent charging and provide insight into key operational metrics.
