Inconsistent Injection & Infusion Charging
E/Point provides appropriate and defensible infusion services charging
Infusion and injection charging is a difficult exercise. In addition to attending to their patients, clinicians are burdened with a multi-dimensional rule set that requires precise knowledge of an endless hierarchy of agents and medications, stop-time rules and treatment-duration rules, not to mention the myriad of initial, concurrent and subsequent codes. Without a tool or process that organizes this vast rule set, chances are slim that infusion charges are being calculated across the department in a consistent manner. This is one of the reasons why infusion and injection charging is a target area for the Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs); it is a treatment area where mistakes, non-compliance and inconsistencies are easy to find.
LYNX E/Point® includes an infusion and injection module that eliminates the need for clinicians to manually calculate infusion charges, and frees them up to focus on the clinical aspects of the infusion regimen. The results are defensible charges against RAC and other audits for routine therapeutic, prophylactic, diagnostic (TPD) injections and infusions for emergency departments.
